An engine timing belt performs a major role to make your engine run. It is a belt with integral teeth driven by the crankshaft and runs the camshaft, which in turn controls the timing of the engine’s valves. When the engine is running, it keeps the engine operation synchronized with the constant timed motion. A broken timing belt will prevent the camshaft from turning and will remain a valve open which may be hit by the piston resulting to serious engine damage like bent valves, destroyed cylinder head and pistons.
