Getting a boat launched certainly isn’t the most exciting part of sea travel, and neither is getting it back on land. For owners of the new Iguana 29, however, you can skip the docks by beaching your boat and then driving it home. Drive it home at 5MPH that is. This new amphibious speed boat lets you cruise the seas at up to 35 knots, but it also has deployable tank treads that can easily climb up the shore and navigate the beach. Again, you won’t be breaking any land speed records, but it’s convenient enough that you can drive the boat to the trailer without leaving the parking lot – plus the thing looks so cool any speed inadequacies are made up for by the fact that your boat is equipped with tank treads. &nb...Read More

It might not be the kind of carnage you would imagine 2 million car crashes to look like, but the new BBC data graphic and corresponding video tells a much more valuable story than a pile of wreckage. The image on this post is actually a graphical map of every injury car crash on the roads of Great Britain at a point in time from 1999 – 2010. Each data point has also been strung together to animate a video that flashes every crash over 24 hours of every day during the entire 12 year period. It’s actually about 2.4 million crashes total, the data from which have been used to create heat-map images and an animated video of every crash from the past decade. The picture may look like an aerial view of night city lights, but each flash represents an accident...Read More

I work for Auto Parts Network, but being the small start-up E-commerce company that we are at this point in time, our offices are on the back side of a Meineke shop (which also includes a Tint World franchise). The owner of Auto Parts Network, Charles Bonfiglio, also owns this Meineke franchise (and the Tint World franchise), and is utilizing this space for offices to try and keep start-up costs for Auto Parts Network low, which we pass on to our customers in lower prices. This will be a great story for the future, when we are a big successful company, you know how it goes, “Remember when our offices were on the back side of a Meineke shop? Ha, ha, ha!” But I digress. The other day I was walking around the Meineke/Tint World/Auto Pa...Read More
You may have heard of Irv Gordon and his 1966 Volvo P1800, who made it into the Guinness Book of World Records in 1998 for driving the most miles by a single-owner in a non-commercial vehicle, at an astounding 1.69 million miles. But Mr. Gordon did not stop driving his Volvo then and as of May 2011 his odometer was at 2,908,000 miles – he may have attained his goal of 3 million miles by now! Irv Gordon bought his 1966 Volvo P1800 new and has owned the car for 45 years. He believes the Volvo’s superior design and his own regular maintenance are what have made the difference in achieving these milestones. He also believes in Bilstein shock absorbers. As his travels progressed over the years, Mr. Gordon went through several sets of OEM shoc...Read More
Popular aftermarket mat manufacturer, Husky Liners, was founded by a man named Bob Tyler. According to the company history featured on their website, Mr. Tyler would take his dog on hunting and fishing trips that would result in a muddy and messy canine. As you know, dogs aren’t the best about wiping their feet before they get in the car, so the mess would end up in his vehicle for the ride home. With the determination to save his vehicle from the mud tracked in by his faithful companion, he started developing a washable floor mat and Husky Liners was born. Ironic to the name, their history cites that Bob Tyler actually owned a Labrador Retriever, but Husky Liners are a great vehicle accessory for any pet owner. They are completely...Read More
The AEM Subaru WRX STI which was unveiled at SEMA 2011delivers an amazing extra 35 horsepower with 36 foot pounds of torque to the wheels. AEM accomplishes this utilizing a dual air intake system and an ETI or electronically tuned intake. ETI allows AEM to maintain the original diameter of the air intake tubing at the throttle body, delivering more air flow for greater power gains. The ETI communicates electronically with the mass air flow sensor, ensuring the correct amount of fuel is always delivered depending on the demands being placed on your engine, taking into account the larger diameter tubing. Many air intake systems will “detune” or reduce the size of the intake tube at the mass air flow sensor, compromising performance. The Ni...Read More
CORSA’s RSC (Reflective Sound Cancellation), technology is so specific to your vehicle that no two vehicles will ever sound the same. Each CORSA RSC exhaust system is designed so that the acoustics defeat the frequencies that can cause the droning noise heard with other exhaust systems. CORSA uses technology from the aerospace industry to target, reflect and defeat specific sound waves without restricting air flow or reducing horsepower, while allowing you to enjoy a unique performance exhaust sound designed just for your vehicle. CORSA’s unique RSC muffler design will deliver an impressive sound specific to your vehicle, while allowing you to enjoy a relatively quiet ride inside your vehicle. The CORSA RSC muffler has a straight-through desig...Read More
Unlike other competitor muffler designs, Flowmaster does not use a “straight-through” design for their mufflers. Straight-through designs use a packing material packed around a piece of perforated tubing to dampen sound as the exhaust flows through the muffler. This packing can deteriorate over time and become less effective in its sound reduction functionality. The internal tubing with this type of muffler usually is reduced in size as it enters the inlet of the muffler, which further reduces the sound as the exhaust flow is leaving the muffler. Unfortunately, this reduced size tubing tends to restrict the flow of exhaust gas as it moves through the muffler, reducing the performance potential. Flowmaster mufflers utilize sound energy ca...Read More
