Features of 2013 Models

The latest 2013 model year vehicles have already started to roll out and what’s the best thing about buying the newest cars on the lot? Getting the latest gadgets and features that come with it. Some of these newer vehicles are equipped with useful safety features, others loaded with cool tech, and several with convenient features that make you wonder why they weren’t already on vehicles 10 years ago.

Automakers are always striving to make the driving experience a safer one, the passenger-side blind-spot camera is just the next step to achieve that goal. A small camera mounted on the passenger side mirror, then projected onto a central display screen, will allow drivers to overcome those pesky blind spots. Another feature to help a driver avoid pedestrians or vehicles is the back-up collision intervention system—automatically applying the brakes if it senses an object in your way.

New tech is all about convenience so when it comes to the latest models, a tablet-style center stack control interface was inevitable with the touch screen acting similar to an iPad. One feature that many might find useful, especially with a bevy of bags after a whirlwind holiday shopping spree, is the foot-operated, touch less lift gate. So your hands are full? No problem, just open your trunk by extending your foot under a vehicle’s rear bumper.
