You may have heard of Irv Gordon and his 1966 Volvo P1800, who made it into the Guinness Book of World Records in 1998 for driving the most miles by a single-owner in a non-commercial vehicle, at an astounding 1.69 million miles. But Mr. Gordon did not stop driving his Volvo then and as of May 2011 his odometer was at 2,908,000 miles – he may have attained his goal of 3 million miles by now! Irv Gordon bought his 1966 Volvo P1800 new and has owned the car for 45 years. He believes the Volvo’s superior design and his own regular maintenance are what have made the difference in achieving these milestones. He also believes in Bilstein shock absorbers.
As his travels progressed over the years, Mr. Gordon went through several sets of OEM shock absorbers and made the switch to Bilstein in the mid 1990s. He has since replaced the front shocks once, but he believes he has put more than 1,000,000 miles on the rear shocks over 15 years of driving! His Volvo still handles well and has a great ride, and can even handle the abuse of New York pot holes without issue. Irv Gordon states that the shocks have not leaked or lost their support at any point over the years of use and abuse. Bilstein shocks have provided a comfortable ride and been unbelievably durable over many years. Irv Gordon may be Bilstein shocks’ greatest fan and best testimony ever!
