Bosch started in business in 1886, but has been active in the United States since 1906. Automotive Technology is Bosch's largest business in North America, but they also provide consumer goods and building technology, as well as industrial technology including solar energy. Moving into the future, Bosch and Daimler are establishing an exciting joint venture to design and produce electric motors for all-electric cars in Europe. About 45% of spending is designated for products that save energy and resources.
Some interesting news out of Bosch, that they and Daimler are teaming up for a joint venture to produce electric motors (also known as traction motors). Daimler AG and Robert Bosch GmbH both signed agreements to form a 50:50 joint venture for producing electric motors. A new company called EM-motive GmbH will be set up to design, manufacture and market cutting-edge electric motors for electric vehicles. The new company will be based in Hildesheim, close to both parent companies in the Stuttgart area. Production of the new electric motor is scheduled to begin in 2012.
