Dayco quality parts have innovative qualities built into them that make them equal to or even superior to OEM quality parts. Innovations can reduce vibration for less wear and tear, or keep tension on belts consistent so that they do not stretch and wear prematurely. Self-lubricating materials provide superior protection, so that pulleys and belts last longer and superior designs help parts to run smoother and more quietly. Belts and hoses are constructed of materials that are stronger and offer better protection against oil, mud, salt, road debris, ozone, coolants and temperature variations. Dayco is recognized in both the OE and aftermarket automotive segments as a forward-thinking company driven by technology. Dayco still adheres to the same principles that the company was founded on over 100 years ago: To foresee and meet the needs of their customers by providing quality products and services in a timely manner. Founded on May 17, 1905 in Dayton, OH, as the Dayton Rubber Manufacturing Company (DRMC), started out making garden hose and canning-jar rubber sealing rings, but their future was in the automotive industry and by 1913 they were manufacturing tires. In 1919 the services of A.L. Freedlander, a highly-skilled rubber scientist, were procured. Under his guidance the company widened the variety of the products they were manufacturing and began making the V-belt in 1921, which would expand to many different applications later in the 1920's, not only automotive vehicles, but industrial machines, business equipment, household appliances, etc. There were many innovations and discoveries in rubber manufacturing and applications, including wartime products, automotive and other industries, which resulted in steady growth over the years and ensured Dayco's position today. Throughout their history Dayco has specialized in designing new products, enhancing existing products and making manufacturing processes more efficient and this is what will continue Dayco's position in the market into the future.
