NOS is a Holley Company, acquired by Holley at the end of the 1990s, expanding Holley's variety of products. The use of nitrous oxide goes back to World War II, where it was used to give Allied aircraft boosts in both airspeed and altitude capabilities when needed. Once jet power began to be popular after the end of WWII nitrous was placed on a back burner, until the 1970s, when entrepreneurs began experimenting with nitrous systems. It wasn't until 1978, when Mike Thermos and Dale Vaznaian did nitrous right and started Nitrous Oxide Systems, Inc., (NOS), that its use was perfected and nitrous was recognized as a viable presence in the automotive performance community. The early years at NOS involved showing that nitrous oxide was a safe and effective method for enhancing automotive performance. Drag Racing's Pro Mod class gave nitrous oxide it's biggest popularity boost and NOS systems have been used to set all key performance milestones with nitrous. Today NOS remains the dominating force in the nitrous world, ensured by the company's dedication to perfection via extensive research and development. As a part of the Holley organization, NOS is perfectly positioned with the resources to continue to grow in their position of leader in nitrous oxide systems.
