Warn Industries offers a wide variety of off-road equipment and accessories that expand the performance abilities of four-wheel-drive vehicles, ATV's and utility vehicles, and enhance their rugged good looks. WARN's Industrial Division produces electric and hydraulic winches and hoists for commercial, industrial and severe duty customers worldwide. The company also offers utility winches and hoists that are specially engineered for professional trade workers and do-it-yourself customers who need heavy-duty tools to help them in pulling, hauling, dragging or lifting tasks. WARN has four divisions which focus on certain customers (WARN Truck and Auto, Power Systems, Industrial and Powersports). WARN is one of the most well-known brands worldwide in vehicle performance enhancing equipment.
Warn Industries was started in 1948 by Arthur Warn, originally providing locking hubs for surplus World War II Jeeps, converting thousands into useful on-road vehicles. Warn Industries was originally headquartered in Seattle, Washington and their technology dramatically changed the hub industry. WARN designed the first recreational winch in 1959 and the WARN winch rapidly came to be the leading brand for off-road racers, four-wheelers, weekend adventurers and working ranchers. Through the 1970s Warn Industries expanded its product offerings to include manual and automatic hubs for all 4WD vehicles, new electric and hydraulic winches, severe duty winches and new winch mounting systems. By the end of the 1970s the company began its enduring association with Ford Motor Company, began worldwide product distribution capacities and expanded production operations near Portland, Oregon. Through the 1980s WARN continued to expand its products, adding fender flares and off-road accessory products. By the late 1980s the ATV market was getting popular and WARN introduced the market's first ATV winch. In 1986 the company moved its main office to Portland, Oregon and Michael Warn, Arthur Warn's grandson, became Warn Industries' new Chairman of the Board and CEO. The years from 1991 to 1999 were decisive ones for Warn Industries as they received ISO 9001/QS-9000 certification and created an industrial division, building winches and accessories for the towing and recovery market. In 1997 WARN opened its new world headquarters. In 2000 Mike Warn stepped away from the business and sold the company to Jon Kreitz, Endeavor Capital. Between 2001 and 2004 Warn Industries expanded its manufacturing certificates to include the ISO 14001 environmental management system certificate for both Oregon facilities. In October 2003 WARN increased its manufacturing certificates to include the upgrade of the QS9000 to ISO/TS16949:2002 and the 2000 revision of the ISO9001. Also in October 2003, Warn Industries became part of Dover Corporation. WARN received certification in the newest automotive industry standard of ISO/TS 16949:2002 in 2004. In 2005 Warn Industries opened a sales office in the Netherlands, added a Distribution Center in Clackamas, Oregon, a distribution facility in Gahanna, Ohio and opened a new production plant in Saltillo, Mexico. With more changes and innovations implemented from 2005 through 2009 and beyond, Warn Industries will continue at the top of their industry.
Warn Industries has earned the ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certifications in quality and environmental responsibility. They achieve their environmental goals by complying with applicable regulatory requirements and working towards surpassing those goals. WARN is always working at preventing any pollution as a result of their activities, products or services, as well as lessening the environmental burden of waste generation and pollution to the air, water and land. Warn Industries encourages reduction, reuse and recycling in all their activities and ensures proper disposal of any unavoidable waste. WARN is constantly looking at ways to improve their environmental performance and lessen their environmental impact.
