Eastern Catalytic was started by Wilhelm SchAFEr as Eastern Manufacturing in 1976, supplying rebuilt catalytic converts to his own SchAFEr Muffler Centers and S.M.S. Products. The company grew to make new, Universal and Direct-fit converters. Eastern Catalytic is now based out of Langhorne, Pennsylvania and has continued to expand their manufacturing capabilities with facilities in Prodesa, Mexico and Ontario, Canada. Today Eastern Catalytic supplies converters to aftermarket and OE clients in over 72 countries. Eastern Catalytic has plans for future expansion into new markets for catalytic converters including marine, industrial, off-highway and fractional horsepower applications, and is well positioned to carry out that growth.
Eastern Catalytic has designed a new series of catalytic converters that solve the ‘Check Engine Light’ problem for vehicles with tough emissions problems. Eastern Catalytic’s new ECO II and ECO III series converters have solved this problem with washcoats that feature more precious metals to handle vehicles with ultra low emissions or higher than average emissions, in addition to higher mileage and heavier workload vehicles.
