In 1983 founder Ray Flugger started Flowmaster to solve 'excessive sound' issues for California Sprint Car racers. All previous attempts to quiet the race engines without giving up power were failures. Flowmaster started in a small 800 square foot barn in Kenwood, California, but today it occupies three modern facilities which together total over 400,000 square feet in Santa Rosa, West Sacramento and Hayden, Idaho. Made in the USA, Flowmaster's 250+ employees are dedicated to producing the best quality exhaust products out there. Founder Ray Flugger is still actively involved with the R&D department, so you can count on Flowmaster continuing to develop new exhaust products into the future.
Recently Flowmaster received a story that perfectly illustrates the difference a properly designed exhaust can make – and the negative impact an improperly designed exhaust system can have on performance. A client told Flowmaster the story about his highly customized 1968 Mustang, into which he had put a significant amount of money for the drivetrain, only to find when he put it on a dyno that he was only getting 258 horsepower (out of a 427cid, 485hp engine!). The problem was so severe that the shop who was working on the Mustang even wondered if the engine was damaged, and began preparation for the process of tearing the engine down to inspect it. As the exhaust system was removed from the car, the mechanic noted the small diameter tubing and the small, roun...
Read MoreUnlike other competitor muffler designs, Flowmaster does not use a “straight-through” design for their mufflers. Straight-through designs use a packing material packed around a piece of perforated tubing to dampen sound as the exhaust flows through the muffler. This packing can deteriorate over time and become less effective in its sound reduction functionality. The internal tubing with this type of muffler usually is reduced in size as it enters the inlet of the muffler, which further reduces the sound as the exhaust flow is leaving the muffler. Unfortunately, this reduced size tubing tends to restrict the flow of exhaust gas as it moves through the muffler, reducing the performance potential. Flowmaster mufflers utilize sound energy ca...

Whether you're looking for an aggressive "everyone knows you're coming" sound and performance or something more moderate, or even something mild, but more distinctive and unique than stock, Flowmaster has a muffler or exhaust system to fit your needs. Flowmaster mufflers and exhaust systems bring together the sound you want with the performance you need, to deliver increases in power and even better mileage than your original equipment and competing aftermarket products. Flowmaster mufflers and exhaust systems are available for most cars and trucks on the road today and Flowmaster also has mufflers for racing applications.
Designed for either the professional installer or do-it-yourselfer, Flowmaster installation accessories are engineered to be used with Flowmaster mufflers for custom installations and allow for a professional installation so the muffler performs reliably for years to come.
