A hydraulic braking system utilizes the brake master cylinder that converts applied pressure into hydraulic pressure. The brake master cylinder stores the brake fluid that is pushed and compressed by the piston towards the wheel cylinders. For vehicles using a brake drum, the brake linings are forced by the wheel cylinders against the drum to slow down or put the vehicle to a complete stop. For vehicles using brake discs or brake rotors, however, the compressed brake fluid drives the wheel cylinders to force the brake pads against the disc or rotor to reduce the speed of the vehicle or put it to a steady state. A damaged brake master cylinder may show symptoms such as leaking brake fluid, a decrease in pedal travel, or when the pedal sinks to the floor.
