A steering shaft, also known as a steering column, is the shaft that connects the steering wheel to the steering gear assembly to provide control of steering the vehicle. It rotates in direct proportion with the steering wheel to provide accurate steering. As the steering wheel rotates to a certain direction, either clockwise or counter clockwise, the steering shaft then transfers the force to the steering gear assembly, which then moves the steering linkages either left or right, corresponding to the direction the steering wheel is rotating. A broken or bent steering column renders steering difficult to manage. Auto Parts Network carries a complete list of parts for all your automotive needs. Hide
