A neutral safety switch is used on vehicles with automatic transmission to prevent the engine from starting when the gear shift lever is not in park or neutral. It is wired to the circuit which goes to the starter solenoid to allow starting of the vehicle when the gear shift lever is in neutral or park. Without it, the vehicle will start even when the lever is at forward or reverse position and may cause injury to the occupants or pedestrians and damage the vehicle itself. Auto Parts Network offers parts that will promote safety to the vehicle to avoid accidents. Hide
