Original DashMat started in 1979 when a US Air Force retiree who lived in Arizona noticed how many vehicles he saw that had towels or rags covering the dash area when they were driving around, trying to protect them from the extreme heat of the desert sun. Convinced he could come up with a better solution, he tried out a variety of materials in an attempt to find the ideal texture that would reduce reflection and glare, and insulation to help reduce damaging heat. He added a latex backing to help retain the shape of the covers and had innovated the perfect combination of materials for his new product - DashMats. As the years have gone by several different materials have been added to the Original DashMat offering including suede look, velour and even now a new warp-knit finish. The Original DashMat design center is still located in Arizona and their design team now has over 50 years of experience innovating the best fitting and best looking protection for the dash of your vehicle.

Eco-Fi is a material used by Original DashMat in their carpet dashboard covers. It is made by recycling plastic PET containers that are washed, crushed and chopped into flake. The flake is melted and extruded to create fiber. The fiber is crimped, cut, drawn and stretched into an appropriate length for strength, then organized into bales. This baled fiber can be processed into fabric and used for several different textile products, including Original DashMat Dash Board Covers!
