Clutch Pedal

A clutch pedal is a foot-operated pedal located at the left side of the brake pedal of a vehicle with manual transmission. It allows the driver to operate the clutch when changing gears. When the clutch pedal is depressed, the clutch separates the engine from the transmission, allowing them to work independent from each other. While the engine is not in contact with the transmission, the transmission gears can then be adjusted. Once the clutch pedal is released, the engine and the transmission will resume contact and turn together at a new speed. A broken clutch pedal will prevent the clutch from separating the transmission gears from the engine, which in turn preventing the transmission gears from being adjusted and will keep the vehicle running at a constant speed.
