It's quick and easy.
An engine piston is a cylindrical metallic device in the internal combustion engine that transfers the force of the combustion and expansion of the power stroke to the crankshaft. The shape of the piston crown depends on the shape of its combustion chamber and its compression ratio. The engine piston moves down to allow air and fuel mixture to enter the cylinder. As the piston moves up, it compresses the mixture which is then ignited by the spark plug, which in turn creates an explosion which sends the engine piston downwards. As the piston reaches the bottom, the exhaust valves opens and the piston moves up again to push the exhaust out of the cylinder to the exhaust pipe that completes the combustion process. The up and down motion or linear motion of the engine piston is converted to a rotational motion by the crankshaft which drives the main shaft that makes the vehicle move.
