A torsion bar is a metal rod that used to absorb the movement of the wheel assembly. One end of the bar is attached to the frame of the vehicle while the other end is connected to a lever that is attached to the axle, spindle, or the suspension arm. The torsion bar twists in accordance to the vertical motion of the wheel assembly which is resisted by the bar's torsion resistance to provide a spring effect.
