A wheel bearing is a set of ball bearings sandwiched by large and small cylinders to allow smooth rotation of a shaft while minimizing friction and at the same time, keeping the shaft in place while rotating. The outer surface of a wheel bearing acts as a fixture while the inner surface holds the shaft firmly in place. As the shaft rotates, the inner cylinder of the wheel bearing rotates as well, going the same direction as the shaft.
